Periodic Process returns “Too many reconsolidations needed for employee” warning message (16005,27153).
Root Cause
A single consolidation function result includes multiple definitions with different Accumulation Periods applicable throughout a participant’s employment history.
The Accumulation Period configuration setting dictates whether data should be consolidated into monthly or annual buckets.
This warning can apply to Consolidated Earnings, Consolidated Hours, or Consolidated Contribution function results.
This error is not related to the Periodic Process Request Reconsolidate mode.
Solutions
Review message parameters for helpful information:
- The name of the program reporting the warning will indicate if the configuration problem is related to Consolidated Earnings (PAPPCERN), Consolidated Hours (PAPPCHRS), or Consolidated Deductions (PAPPCDED).
- The message parameters include the EMPLID and Function Result name.
Review the configuration for the identified function result to identify all consolidation definitions that could apply. Then, review the Accumulation Period configured for each definition to ensure they all match. Update the Accumulation Period in the definition or remove the definition from the function result.
If it is intentional that the function result should have a different Accumulation Period for other participants, then carefully review the group definitions so that an individual participant would never have multiple consolidation definitions with different Accumulations Periods.
Hints
To find precisely which applicable definition has a different Accumulation Period from the other applicable definition(s) for this calculation and function result:
- Turn on the Pension Application trace setting for any of the three Consolidations
- Run the process again
- Open the trace output file from the process monitor
- Search for the Function Result name
- The output will include groups/definitions that could apply (defined in Function Result configuration). After the aliases used in the group definitions are resolved, the list of applicable definitions for this Function Result will be listed.
- Suppose the appropriate type of consolidation is enabled. In that case, you may be able to search the application trace output for the definition names and find the last definition applied before the warning was issued.
