Design decisions have brought down projects.
Should write a book on design mistakes in overzealous customization.
Don’t break delivered functionality. Couldn’t run calculation except through CRM.
Makes sure customizations will keep processes working in all modes.
Don’t try to replicate the prior system. Implement and customize a system that speaks the PeopleSoft design language.
Make sure process operations are supportable – restart, recover, error handling, visibility.
Make sure process programming is supportable – readable, understandable code. Keep it as simple as possible to meet the requirements.
Don’t integrate a technology just because it’s possible. OPA.
Don’t put baby in the corner – don’t try to hide PeopleSoft pages through integration with CRM, Portals or other systems – instead make PeopleSoft like you want.
Take the path of least resistance – generate forms/letters from HCM instead of CRM – less integration effort – no benefit from generating in CRM – very difficult to modify.
Transaction Id – ability to run processes with/without pending data.
