Sure, customizations are time consuming and expensive, and most of support resources get routed to maintaining/repairing customizations…could it be better in some cases if we weren’t working so hard to justify the need for the customization or to designing complex workflows to avoid making a direct customization?
The reality is customizations are a necessary for product on sustaining support with complex business rule gaps.
My philosophy is to move beyond customizations for fixes and gaps to customizing for user experience and improved operations. Hence decision to make direct (not bolt-on) modifications to delivered objects in the PSPA Tech Enhancement Lab Environment.
